Kaththi (English: Knife) is an upcoming Tamil action thriller film written and directed by AR Murugadoss. The film features Vijay in a dual role with Samantha  as the female lead,while Neil Nitin Mukesh debuts in Tamil cinema as the lead antagonist character. Principal photography for the film commenced on 3 February 2014.
The film was launched in Kolkata on February 3, 2014 by its producers Ayngaran International with a little pooja ceremony in front of the Kalighat Kali Temple, after which theprincipal photography began. Earlier Schedules were made on Kolkata and Hyderabad.
