Jigarthanda is a Tamil musical gangster film directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film has Siddharth and Soodhu Kavvum's Bobby Simha in the lead and is being produced by Kathiresan on Five Star Films banner. The supporting cast includes Lakshmi Menonand Karunakaran, Guru Somasundaram of Aaranya Kaandam fame and actor-director Pratap Pothen. Gavemic U Ary was the film's cinematographer which marked his debut in Tamil cinema and Vivek Harshan was the film's editor. Santhosh Narayanancomposed the songs and background score for this film.
The film featured in the fifth spot in the list 5 Indian Films to see in India 2014 by Forbes India Magazine published on 31 December 2013. The shoot of the film started on June 12, 2013 in Madurai. The film's shoot came to an end after five months in Madurai on November 21, 2013.
The film was dubbed into Telugu as Chikkadu Dorakadu, which marked Siddharth's first Telugu release in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh post their bifurcation. The film released on August 1, 2014 worldwide to positive reviews from critics who appreciated the film's script, performances, cinematography and music.
